Oilers 15th in Midseason Standings of the 2011-2012 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup
The University of Findlay is standing in 15th place for the
Division II winter midseason standings of the 2011-2012 Learfield
Sports Directors’ Cup. The Oilers are the third-ranked Great
Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) team in the
standings behind Grand Valley State (second) and Ashland
(sixth).
The Roughneck wrestling team’s third place finish at the
national championship gave Findlay 85 points while the men’s
track and field team sported 80 points with their fourth place
finish at the national event.
The women’s track and field team captured 10th in the
national championships, giving the Oilers another 66.75 points for
a total score of 231.75.
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint
effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of
Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each
institution’s finish in up to 14 sports – seven
women’s and seven men’s.
The final Division II Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup winter
standings will be published March
29. These standings will include both men and
women’s basketball team scores in addition to the men and
women’s swimming and diving team scores.
