The University of Findlay men’s basketball team, ranked first in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, will be at home on Friday, November 21 to take on the University of Northwestern Ohio. The non-conference contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. inside Croy Gymnasium.

The Series
Friday, November 21 will mark the first time Findlay and Northwestern Ohio have hooked up on the hardwood.
The University of Findlay
The Oilers held off the University of Indianapolis 77-66 on Tuesday, November 18 in Croy Gymnasium.
As a team, the Oilers shot 44.6 percent (29-of-65) from the floor but struggled from the free throw line and behind the arc. During the victory, Findlay hit on only 3-of-15 (20.0%) of their shots from the three point line and converted only 66.7 percent (16-of-24) of their attempts from the charity stripe.
The Oilers also forced 19 turnovers which included 15 steals and grabbed 34 rebounds, 18 of them coming off of the offensive glass.
Senior center Lee Roberts led six Oilers in double figures with 14 points. He made 6-of-15 shots from the floor and also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to go along with two swats.
Senior forward Josh Bostic added 13 points, five steals and four rebounds while sophomore forward Tyler Sparks and senior forward Morgan Lewis chipped in 12 points apiece.
Lewis added four steals and three rebounds while Sparks hit on 6-of-7 field goal attempts to go along with six rebounds and two steals.
Junior guard Marcus Parker and sophomore guard Nathan Hyde rounded out the other Oilers in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.

University of Northwestern Ohio
The Racers are off to a 2-3 start and were defeated 66-61 by Malone University on Wednesday night.
On the season, Josh Vorst is averaging 15.0 points per game to lead the team while Jason Sarno is clicking for 11.2 points and 2.8 steals per contest.
Kyle Gillette is also helping the Northwestern Ohio cause and is averaging 9.8 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.

Climbing The Ladder
Senior forward Josh Bostic has scored 1,050 career points during his tenure with Findlay. His total ranks 34th all-time.
He is currently chasing Tyson McGlaughlin who scored 1,134 career points from 2002-05.
Chasing The 1,000 Point Club
Senior guard Tyler Evans, senior center Lee Roberts and junior guard Marcus Parker and senior forward Morgan Lewis all have a chance to reach the 1,000 point plateau during the 2008-09 season.
Evans has currently scored 712 points, Roberts is at 665 points, Parker checks in with 648 career points and Lewis is standing at 523.
The Oilers have had 37 players reach the 1,000 point plateau during their tenure at Findlay.
Preseason National Player Of The Year
Senior forward Josh Bostic was tabbed the Preseason NCAA Division II Player of the Year by the DII Bulletin on October 10.
Bostic, a NCAA Division II all-American last year as a junior, averaged 13.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game during the 2007-08 season. He was named first team all-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and was also a first team all-Great Lakes Region and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) selection.
In postseason play, Bostic earned spots on the all-tournament teams for the GLIAC and Great Lakes Region championships.
Preseason National Rankings
The Oilers were tabbed as the top ranked team in all of NCAA Division II basketball by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and also the DII Bulletin.
The Oilers finished last season ranked 7th in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll.
Preseason All-American
Junior forward Josh Bostic was tabbed as the Preseason NCAA Division II Player of the Year by the DII Bulletin and was also selected as an all-American in several different releases. Bostic earned a preseason spot on NCAA Division II all-American lists from the Sporting News, DII Bulletin and the Basketball Times.
Preseason GLIAC Poll
The Oilers were tabbed the favorites to win the South Division of the GLIAC on October 30 in voting conducted by the head coaches and media within the conference.
The Oilers received 29 first place votes and a total of 169 points in the poll. They were followed in the South Division by Hillsdale College (141), Ashland University (110), Northwood University (89), Wayne State University (79) and Tiffin University (36).
Grand Valley State University was tabbed as the top team in the North Division after receiving 29 first place votes and 179 points. The Lakers were followed by Michigan Technological University (133), Lake Superior State University (102), Saginaw Valley State University (93), Ferris State University (69) and Northern Michigan University (54).
Preseason GLIAC Player Of The Year
Senior forward Josh Bostic was tabbed the GLIAC Preseason Player of the Year on October 30 in voting conducted by the head coaches and media within the conference.
Bostic was named first team all-American, first team all-Great Lakes Region and first team all-GLIAC last year as a junior. He also earned spots on the GLIAC all-tournament team as well as the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region all-tournament team.
Preseason All-GLIAC Team
Senior forwards Josh Bostic and Morgan Lewis were named to the preseason all-GLIAC South Division team on October 30 in voting conducted by the head coaches and media within the conference.
Bostic was named first team all-GLIAC last season while Lewis earned second team honors during his junior year.
Among The Best
The Oilers have the second best winning percentage in NCAA Division II competition during the 2000’s. During this decade, the Oilers have won 203 games and lost only 46 for a percentage of .815.
Metro State has the best record during the decade, three tenths of a percentage point ahead of Findlay.
A Tough Place To Play
The Oilers are 454-106 (.811) in Croy Gymnasium since they starting playing home games there during the 1969-70 season.
In the past five years, the Oilers are a staggering 84-2 at home for a winning percentage of .977.
The record includes a school record 59 game home winning streak, which was ended with a 60-56 loss to Northern Kentucky University on March 11, 2007 in the second round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
Regular Season Home Winning Streak
The Oilers have currently won 59 straight regular season games in Croy Gymnasium. The last time Findlay lost at home during the regular season came against Gannon University on February 12, 2004 when the Golden Knights upended the Oilers 70-68.
National Elite
The Oilers have appeared in seven consecutive NCAA Division II National Tournaments, reaching the Elite Eight during the 2004-05 campaign and the Sweet 16 in 2007-08.
Overall, the Oilers have an 9-7 record in the tournament and have secured the top seed twice.
Once reaching the NCAA Tournament, the Oilers have proved to be tough out, reaching the second round in 6-of-7 attempts thus far.
Conference Championships
The Oilers have won seven GLIAC South Division titles in their 11 year affiliation with the conference.
The Oilers have also won three conference tournaments, capturing titles in 2007, 2005 and 2004.
GLIAC Tournament Success
The Oilers currently sport a 15-4 overall record in the GLIAC Tournament, winning titles in 2007, 2005 and 2004.
Overall, Findlay has appeared in the championship game of the event five times in the past six years. They reached the finals in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008.
All-American
Senior forward Josh Bostic was named first team all-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) last year during his junior season. On the season, Bostic averaged 13.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.

Senior forward Josh Bostic was voted as a first team all-Great Lakes Region selection according to the NABC last year as a junior. The selection was the first of his career with the Oilers.
All-GLIAC Team
Senior forward Josh Bostic was named first team all-GLIAC in the South Division while senior forward Morgan Lewis earned second team honors last year for the Oilers.
Bostic, who was named second team all-GLIAC as a sophomore, and junior guard Marcus Parker were also named to the all-defensive team, the second consecutive season they have achieved the feat.
