English Equestrian In 2nd At Nationals

The University of Findlay English equestrian team is currently in second place at the 2008 National Championship after the first day of competition on Thursday, May 8 in Los Angeles, California. The Oilers scored five team points on the first day and trail Berry College who racked up seven.

In the individual intermediate equitation over fences, Jenny Priebe placed second while Raffi Kechejian took the silver in the team collegiate cup novice equitation over fences.

Matt Piccolo rode for the USEF/Cacchione Cup in the hunter seat equitation class and is tied for first place with two other riders with 88 points. Matt will ride for the final class in the USEF/Cacchione Cup hunter seat over fences on Friday. The points from this class will be added to the points from today. The winner will be announced Saturday evening.

Two UF riders competed in the individual novice hunt seat class as Hope Janelle Berninghausen received an honorable mention and Zoe Steele-Rand placed second.
