The University of Findlay men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed against Lock Haven University, Malone University and Urbana University on Saturday, October 24 in Canton, Ohio. The men’s team defeated Malone 51-42 and then came away with a 49-15 victory over Urbana. The women’s team defeated Lock Haven 78-30, won against Malone 92-15 and captured a 94-7 win over Urbana.
On the men’s side, Tim Anderson won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.88, the 50-yard freestyle at 24.92, the 100-yard butterfly at 55.07 to lead the team.
Jason Chomic was first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.87 and captured the title in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:05.56 while John Bogart won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:25.82 and the 500-yard freestyle at 5:27.78
David Conti captured first in the 200-yard IM at 2:14.30 as well.
On the women’s side, Lindsay Hatteberg captured first in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.09, was the winner in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.25 and teamed with Alyssa Kmet, Emily Thomas and Rachel Baker to win the 400-yard freestyle relay at 3:53.65
Kmet added a first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:20.11 while Thomas teamed with Tanya Tikhonova, Kelsey Fultz and Brittany Balitzkat to win the 400-yard medley relay at 4:18.53.
Tikhonova was also first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.90 and won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.06.
Nikki Schnell-McCoy captured first in the 500-yard freestyle after crossing the finish line in 5:33.83 while Maddie Bell was first in the 1-meter dive with 175.35 points and also captured the 3-meter dive title at 167.90.
The Oilers will be back in action again on October 31 when they host Wheeling Jesuit at 1:00 p.m.
