The University of Findlay men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed at home against Wheeling Jesuit University on Saturday, October 31. The women won 138-96 while the men fell 117-53.
On the women’s side, Nikki Schnell-McCoy had a hand in three victories as she teamed with Jill Herbst, Emily Thomas and Brittany Balitzkat to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:55.15 while also capturing first place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.10) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.51).
Balitzkat also won the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:12.21 while Herbst finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a school record breaking time of 1:01.64.
Lindsay Hatteberg claimed three victories as well, winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.30), the 100-yard freestyle (54.88) and the 50-yard freestyle (24.94) while Amanda Purdy and Alyssa Kmet won two events.
Purdy was first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:34.85 and captured the title in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:37.16 while Kmet won the 200-yard breaststroke after crossing the finish line in 2:39.51 and the 200-yard IM at 2:22.95.
Maddie Bell claimed the gold in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with 198.54 and 185.03 points respectively.
On the men’s side, Jason Chomic was first in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:05.24 and also the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:28.11.
Tim Anderson added a first place mark in the 100-yard butterfly after finishing with a time of 54.52 while David Conti claimed the gold in the 200-yard IM at 2:11.42.
The Oilers will be back in action again on November 7 when they host Hillsdale College and Alma College beginning at 1:00 p.m.
