The University of Findlay women’s basketball hung in for 20 minutes of action on Wednesday, November 4 in an exhibition game against Bowling Green State University but the Falcons turned it on in the second half to defeat the Oilers 80-50 in Bowling Green, Ohio.
The Oilers held several leads in the first half, eventually finding themselves down 38-27 at the break. The second half belonged to the Falcons however as they out-scored Findlay 42-23 in the final frame.
As a team, the Oilers connected on only 24.6 percent (16-of-65) of their field goal attempts while BGSU hit 47.9 percent (23-of-48) of their shots during the game.
Bowling Green also held a huge advantage at the charity stripe, knocking down 30-of-39 (76.9%) attempts compared to the Oilers 13-of-18 (72.2%) showing from the free throw line.
The Oilers also forced 21 turnovers and grabbed 17 offensive rebounds in the loss.
Freshman guard Ashley Andrews led the team with 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting while sophomore guard Laura Bardall and freshman forward Kayla Brown contributed seven points apiece.
Bardall and Brown also chipped in six rebounds while sophomore forward Kaitlyn Nelson and senior forward Megan Sellers had eight and seven boards respectively.
The Oilers will be back in action again on November 8 when they face Eastern Kentucky University in an exhibition game beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Richmond, Kentucky.
