Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay baseball team hosted Hillsdale College on Wednesday, April 15, for their second and final doubleheader matchup with the Chargers. The Oilers dropped the first contest by a 4-0 final and lost the nightcap 4-2. The losses drop Findlay's record to 10-26 overall and 5-15 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.
Hillsdale's bats were hot as the day began as they managed to score four runs on three hits in the top of the first. Those four runs were the only runs of the game for either team.
Findlay starter Alexander Theiss (1-1) took the loss on the hill as he pitched 5.2 innings and allowed four runs on five hits. He struck out four and walked five.

The Oilers finished the games with no runs on four hits. They made two errors and left nine runners on base.
In the second contest, the Oilers were the first team to score as they got off to a 2-0 lead, but that was all the offense the home team could muster as Hillsdale scored four unanswered runs to win by a 4-2 final.
The Oilers first hit came in the third inning when Troy Merriman singled to center field and their first run came just an inning later.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Chase Goulette led off with a single through the left side of the infield and then moved to second when Peter Yorgen reached on an error on an attempted sacrifice bunt. The pair advanced on a groundout and Goulette scored on a single from Pete Burkett. Merriman then stepped up and roped a ball up the middle but the line drive was caught by a diving Hillsdale second basemen. The second basemen then got up and attempted to throw out Burkett at first base, but airmailed the throw, allowing Yorgen to score from third and putting the Oilers up 2-0.
The Chargers answered in the top half of the next inning as they regained the lead by scoring three runs. An add-on run in the seventh made the score 4-2, the eventual final score.
Colin Gossard (1-4) took the loss on the mound as he pitched 5.1 innings and allowed three runs on six hits. He struck out five and walked four.
Goulette ended the game with a hit, two walks, and a run scored. Burkett finished with a single and the only Oiler RBI.
