Head Volleyball Coach Wick Colchagoff announced the signing of Danielle Taflinger, Mackenzie Vorst, Lindsy Reindel and Jacqui Endre to national letters of intent to join the team in the fall of 2010.
"We are extremely excited about this recruiting class," Colchagoff said. "Not only are these ladies very physically talented, but they are all hardworking, motivated players that will add a lot to the character of our program."
All three athletes signed their letters of intent during the early signing period in November.
Taflinger, a 5'9" middle hitter, was a member of the team from Lima Central Catholic that won the Division III state title in 2007. She recently earned her second all-state designation when she was named to the Division III All-State First Team. Taflinger also was a first-team honoree in 2008.
"Danielle is lightning quick and an amazing jumper," Colchagoff said. "She is a high-energy player who will give us a ton of options with her front row play."
Vorst is a four-year varsity player for Columbus Grove high school. This fall she helped Columbus Grove advance to the regional finals and received third team All-State honors. A 5'10" middle hitter, Vorst was also a first team Northwest Conference and Putnam County League from 2007-2009.
"Mackenzie is a versatile hitter who can swing from any position along the net. She has developed a jump float serve that has great motion that will fool a lot of passers," Colchagoff said. "She will be a valuable asset to our program."
Reindel, a 6'1" hitter, will graduate from Delphos St. John's High School and earned her first all-state honors this year when she was named to the Division IV fourth-team. Reindel earned a spot on the Midwest Athletic Conference’s first team this season after being named to the second team in 2007 and 2008.
"Lindsy jumps out of the gym and hits a heavy ball," Colchagoff said. "Her athleticism gives her the potential to develop as an offensive weapon from wherever she hits along the net."
Vorst and Reindel garnered first team all-district honors this season for the Ohio Volleyball Coaches' Association's District 8.
Endre comes to Findlay from Division II powerhouse Walsh Jesuit High School, where she was the libero for this year’s team that advanced to the regional final before losing to eventual state runner-up Lake Catholic. For her defensive efforts, Endre earned her team's Unsung Hero award in 2008 and was tapped as an honorable mention all-district selection this year.
"Jacqui is tenacious on defense and can cover the whole court," Colchagoff said. "Her quickness on defense will extend plays and give our offense a lot of opportunities to stay in system and win points."
The freshman class of 2010 will join an Oilers team that finished 15-18 and 5-11 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2009 and returns 12 letterwinners, including 5 starters in 2010.
