Findlay, Ohio – On Monday, Oct. 15, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced that University of Findlay football player Kyle Gibson has been named as the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Gibson earned the award after helping guide the Oilers to a 35-24 victory over Charleston this past Saturday. In the game, the Newark, Ohio native made a career-high nine tackles that included 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. It is the third consecutive game in which Gibson has had at least one sack.
Findlay's sophomore defensive lineman currently leads the conference in both TFL and sacks. He has 12 tackles-for-loss, the only player in the league in double-digits in that category, is tied for the conference lead with 6.5 sacks, and leads the league with 54 yards lost via the sack.
This is Gibson's first Player of the Week honor of his career.
