Oilers Smash Storm 61-14

The University of Findlay football cruised to a 61-14 victory over Lake Erie College on Nov. 2 in Painesville, Ohio. The win pushes the Oilers record to 6-3 on the season with a 5-1 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.

The Oilers pounced on the Storm early, taking a 33-7 lead at the half. They then outscored the Storm 21-0 in the third quarter before cruising through the fourth as they rolled up 30 first downs in the victory.

The Oilers recorded 500 yards of total offense in the game and forced four turnovers. They averaged 7.5 yards per play and came away with a pair of sacks.

Junior Matt Winzeler completed 16-of-21 passing attempts for 265 yards and four touchdowns while junior Brian Benson rushed 11 times for 76 yards and a score.

Junior Ruben Flowers hauled in five catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns while senior Richard Sheler made a team-high seven tackles on defense.

The Oilers will now return home to face Ashland University on Nov. 9 at noon.
