The 16th-ranked UF men's basketball team opened their season with a 96-77 win over Cedarville on Nov. 18 in Croy Gymnasium.
The Oilers shot 57.1 percent (36-of-63) from the floor in the game and limited the Yellow Jackets to a 35.4 percent (29-of-82) shooting clip. Findlay did most of their damage around the basket, out-scoring Cedarville by a 60-30 margin in the paint.
Junior guard Dylan Kaufman paced the Oilers with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting. He also added four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in the win.
Senior forward Jake Heagen stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a steal while junior forward John Staley poured in a career-high 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Austin Pickett, who had a game-high 26 points.
The Oilers will be back in action again on Nov. 23 when they travel to Louisville, Ky. to face 10th-ranked Bellarmine University at 3 p.m.
