#17 Oilers Host ODU | OVU

The No. 17 Oilers will be back at home to host Ohio Dominican and Ohio Valley this week. They will play the Panthers on Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. before hosting the Fighting Scots at 3:00 p.m. on Jan. 12.

Blackout

The University of Findlay Sport and Event Club will be handing out t-shirts to students before the game begins for the Blackout. All other fans are encouraged to wear black to the game.

Series Information

The Oilers have posted a 33-8 advantage in the all-time series against Ohio Dominican dating back to the 1969-70 campaign when they were victorious by a score of 87-69.

Findlay won two games in the regular season against the Panthers last season, claiming a 90-62 road victory and a 73-66 home victory. Ohio Dominican upset the Oilers in the G-MAC Tournament however, winning 68-66 in the semifinals.

The Oilers hold a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series against Ohio Valley dating back to the 2002-03 campaign when Findlay came away with a 94-73 win.

Findlay beat Ohio Valley twice last season, winning 86-73 on the road and 101-64 at home. In the road win, Taren Sullivan led the Oilers with 31 points. Elijah Kahlig had 18 points and Martyce Kimbrough scored 16 points.

In the home victory, Kimbrough led the way with 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Kimbrough made 4-of-7 tries from long range and also chipped in two assists and a pair of rebounds.

#17 Findlay

The Oilers are 12-2 on the season with a 6-1 record in conference play. They are coming off of a 92-75 win at Alderson Broaddus on Jan. 5.

Senior forward Alex White leads the team with averages of 18.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He has recorded seven double-doubles on the season and has also blocked 2.1 shots per contest.

White is coming off of a monster game at Alderson Broaddus where he put up a career-high 35 points and 15 rebounds. He became the first Findlay player to grab 15 or more rebounds since former Oilers star Kyle Hunt snatched 15 against Gannon University on Feb. 26, 2000.

Junior forward Aaron Overhiser is scoring 14.9 points per contest and grabbing 6.6 rebounds per game. He is also shooting 46.2 percent from three point range, the best mark on the team.

Senior guard Trey Smith sports averages of 12.7 points, 3.6 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. He has also made a team-high 35 three pointers this year.

Sophomore forward Anthony Masterlasco is also averaging in double figures at 10.5 points per outing while sophomore guard Tommy Schmock and freshman guard Ethan Linder are contributing 7.4 and 7.1 points per game, respectively.

Sophomore forward Chazz George has also had a good season and is averaging 6.9 points per contest off the bench.

The Panthers are 9-4 on the year with a 5-1 record in league play. Junior Sam Hickey leads the team and is averaging 17.9 points per game. He is also making 3.2 three pointers per contest. Junior Hasan Varence is having a great season and sports averages of 15.0 points and 12.6 rebounds per contest while sophomore Tahj Curry and senior Ryan Hoying are averaging 11.3 and 10.7 points per outing, respectively.

The Fighting Scots are 5-6 on the season with a 1-5 record in league play. Sophomore Christian Alley leads the team with an average of 14.7 points per game while senior Kenneth Miller is scoring 14.1 points per contest. Junior Ty Dobson and junior David Adeyemo are also scoring in double figures at 11.8 and 10.6 points per game, respectively.

A Tough Place to Play

The Oilers are 617-119 (.838) in Croy Gymnasium since they starting playing home games there during the 1969-70 season.  They have gone undefeated at home eight times in a season since they began play in Croy Gymnasium as well. 

In the past 15 years the Oilers have posted a staggering 226-10 record at home for an incredible winning percentage of .958.

From 2008-11, the Oilers won 71-straight home games, which at the time was the longest streak in the nation regardless of NCAA division.

Dominating Conference Games in Croy

The Oilers have won 137 out of their last 143 regular season conference games at home.  From 2004-13, the Oilers won 84-straight conference games in Croy Gymnasium.

Their last loss to a conference opponent at home came at the hands of Lake Superior State on Dec. 10, 2016 when they were a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). They fell 90-85 in that contest.
