The University of Findlay men's basketball team defeated the University of Wisconsin-Parkside by a score of 61-32 on Dec. 17 in Niekamp Arena. The win gives the Oilers a 5-5 record on the season.
The Oilers limited the Rangers to a mere 25.5 percent (12-of-47) from the floor and a 0-of-16 showing from behind the three point line. The 32 points allowed by the Oilers was also the lowest total an opponent has scored on Findlay since the 1949-50 campaign when the Oilers claimed a 58-31 win over Indiana Tech.
Findlay meanwhile hit on 40 percent (24-of-60) of their field goal attempts and held a 46-29 advantage on the boards. They also forced a season-high 23 turnovers in the victory.
Senior forward Aaron Overhiser led the Oilers with his first double-double of the year as he finished with 19 points and ten boards. He made 8-of-16 attempts from the field and also chipped in three steals.
Junior guard Tommy Schmock only netted two points on the evening, but had seven assists, four rebounds, and four steals.
The Rangers were led by Brandon Trimble's nine points.
The Oilers will be back in action again on Dec. 21 when they travel to Sparkill, N.Y. to face 18th-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas. The game is scheduled to tip at 1pm.
