The University of Findlay men's golf team finished sixth at the Northern Kentucky University Invitational on Sunday, March 20 at the Pendleton Country Club in Butler, Kentucky. The Oilers shot a two-round score of 601 (306, 295) as Central Missouri came away victorious with a 580 (290, 290).
Joe McGean led the Oilers and tied for second at the event with a 1-under par score of 143.
McGeean shot a 73 in the opening round and came back with a 70 in the second to fall three strokes behind Central Missouri's Matt Miller, who won the tournament with a 140 (69, 71).
Marcus Hunt also had a good tournament for the Oilers, finishing tied for 12th with a 148 (78, 70).
Jeff Mocini (77, 74 – 151), Michael Schmitmeyer (76, 77 – 153), Kyle Nickson (75, 79 – 154), Justin Watren (80, 75 – 155) and Matt Jones (82, 76 – 158) also competed for Findlay at the event.
The Oilers will be back in action at the second regional of the season on April 2-3 at the Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Kentucky.
