Senior Joe McGeean of The University of Findlay men's golf team was named first team all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for the first time in his career for his performances during the 2010-11 campaign.
McGeean a three-time second team all-conference selection and the 2007-08 GLIAC Freshman of the Year, had the third lowest scoring average in the league this season at 72.75. The two-time all-region pick is also the second lowest scorer in the history of UF golf, averaging 74.34 strokes per round.
He trails Kyle Weisenburger for first place in the Oilers record book, who accumulated a 74.33 average during his tenure.
In addition, junior Michael Schmitmeyer earned second team all-league honors after posting a 74.00 scoring average.
Schmitmeyer was named first team all-conference last year, a year after being named the 2008-09 GLIAC Freshman of the Year.
He also earned second team honors during his freshman season as well.
Saginaw Valley State's Nate Kelly was tabbed the player of the year while Grand Valley State's Chris Cunningham and Ferris State's Mike Mignano took home freshman and coach of the year honors.
