The University of Findlay men's soccer team defeated Lewis University in the home opener on Saturday, September 1, in Findlay, Ohio, for their first win of the season.
The Oilers had an 11-7 advantage in shots during the opening period, but went into the break tied at 0-0. They then waited for the right opportunity to score in the second half and received a late goal to give them their first opening season victory since 2008.

Poyle's goal came off his right foot and caught a delfection before the ball entered the net.
Senior Matthew Brooks snatched four saves in the contest as he earned the shutout victory between the pipes.
Findlay out-shot their opponents 17-11 and took the edge in fouls, 10-9. Both teams each received one yellow card in the game while the Oilers gave up only five corner kicks.
Findlay will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 7 when they host Urbana University. The game is slated for 4:30 at DeHaven Field.
