Alfred, NY– The University of Findlay men's soccer team defeated Alfred University 1-0 on Thursday, September 2. The Oilers start the year off 1-0 while the Saxons fall to 0-1 for the season.
The game went scoreless for 88 minutes until a late, unassisted goal scored by freshman Josh Hales decided the match. The game-winner gave Hales his first goal as an Oiler.
In a night dominated by defense, the Oilers attempted 20 total shots with nine shots on goal. Senior Ben Richter received the victory in the net with two saves in the match.
The Oilers will be back in action when they travel to Ohio Dominican Wednesday, September 6 for their first ever Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match.
