Findlay, OH - The University of Findlay men's soccer team won big over Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday, October 21 in Great Midwest contest that ended in a 4-0 decision. The victory moves the Oilers to 12-4 (11-2) on the year while the Panthers fall to 1-12-1 (1-11-1) on the season.
Prior to the start of the game, Findlay honored their five seniors for their time as student-athletes at the university. The five seniors this year were Bailey Crawford, Ben Richter, Peyton Schroeder, James Moran, and Elijah Emmons.
The Oilers started off their scoring in the 5th minute of the match, by way of an unassisted goal from sophomore Josh Dickinson.
Just over four minute later, junior Yardley Gonzalez found the back of the net for his second goal of the year.
The Oilers would head into halftime with a 3-0 lead, and did not allow the Panther offense to attempt a single shot during the period.
The second period was mostly defense from both sides, until the Oilers added a fourth goal with less than seven minutes remaining. The goal was recorded by senior Peyton Schroeder on an assist from sophomore Clayton Cooney.
Findlay dominated the game from start to finish, recording 37 shots to Kentucky Wesleyan's three, with 21 of the Oiler shots being on goal.
The Oilers will be back on the pitch this Tuesday, October 24 when they face Ohio Dominican. The game will kick-off at noon at DeHaven Field.
