Cedarville, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's soccer team went up against Cedarville University in the quarterfinals of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday, November 9. The Oilers came up short in the contest by a final score of 1-0 and fall out of the conference championship ending the season with a 9-7-2 record.
The Oilers and Yellow Jackets battled in the first half to not give up any momentum for the rest of the game. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie, and ultimately was decided in the final half of play.
The Yellow Jackets quickly made a move to win the advantage when Jonny Stephens snuck one to the back of the Oilers' goal to give them the lead 1-0 in the 50th minute. The Oilers did their best to make a move to tie it back up and in the final ten minutes of the game, shots by Josh Dickinson and Harrison Szep just missed with a chance to tie the game.
Dickinson led the Oilers with four shots and Szep added a pair. The Oilers goalkeeper, Garrett Arborgast had five saves in the game as well.
