Junior Jessica Rowland and senior Derrick Vicars of the Oilers track team were named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Female and Male Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday, April 10.
Rowland had a huge meet at the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio as she set three school records for the Oilers.
Rowland won the hammer throw with a NCAA automatic qualifying heave of 192'10. The mark was good enough to set a new school record and is the top mark in the nation at this point in time.
The Germantown, Ohio native also took second in the shot put with a school record breaking and provisional toss of 47'01, placed second in the discus with a school record breaking and provisional heave of 160'03 and finished third in the javelin at 131'05, also a provisional mark.
Vicars meanwhile, who earned the same honor last week, came away with a pair of wins at the event as he won the shot put with a NCAA automatic qualifying and school record breaking toss of 61'02.75 and also captured first in the discus throw with an automatic qualifying and school record breaking heave of 181'07.
The Genoa, Ohio native also finished fifth in the hammer throw with a NCAA provisional toss of 188'01.
