The University of Findlay softball team was swept by Grand Valley State University on Sunday, April 17 in Allendale, Michigan as they fell 14-2 and 9-1 in the doubleheader. The losses give the Oilers an 18-16-1 record on the season with a 6-13 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
Alyssa Shultz took the loss in the opener, allowing nine runs on 11 hits in two innings.
Taylor Kessinger went 3-for-3 and drove in a run while Jenna Motuza registered two hits and scored a run.
Jaci Messmer drove in the Oilers other run in the game on a single in the first inning.
In the second game, Messmer drove in a run with a double in the third and Jackie Messersmith was saddled with the loss after allowing nine runs on 13 hits in six innings of action.
The Oilers will be back in action again on April 20 when they host Wayne State University in a twin bill beginning at 4 pm.
