The University of Findlay softball team advanced to the second day of the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament with a 2-1 win over Northwood University on Friday, May 3 at Anderson Field.
The Oilers scored two runs in the first inning and then rode the arm of Tawna Whited the rest of the way as she limited the Timberwolves to one run on four hit in a complete game victory.
Jenna Motuza led the game off with a double and then scored one batter later when Tori Allen singled up the middle. Brittany Dauterman then singled before Carly Borders walked to load the bases with no outs. Emily Reynolds then drove in Allen with a single, but the Oilers could not manage another run in the frame.
Reynolds went 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI while Allen finished 2-for-4 with one RBI as well.
Dauterman had three hits in the game, going 3-for-4.
The Oilers will play Ferris State tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
