The University of Findlay softball team was picked to finish ninth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) this season as the league office unveiled their annual preseason poll on Feb. 10.
The Oilers received 74 points in the poll and Wayne State University was tabbed as the favorite to win the league with 168 points and 12 first place votes.
Senior Morgan Turner returns to lead the offense after hitting .395 last year. She belted four home runs and also had 24 runs batted in.
Juniors Bonnie Zappitelli and Nicole Motuza are back to lead the pitching staff as they threw 52 and 47 innings last year, respectively. Zappitelli recorded a 3.72 earned run average while Motuza sported a 3.72 earned run average last season.
