The University of Findlay softball program announced the signings of eight players on Jan. 13. Emily Barr, Samantha Brininger, Mikayla Gilliland, Leslie Hill, Lauren Hoffman, Rachel Vander Roest, Elizabeth Tegtmeyer and Montana Walker have all committed to the program and be future players under head coach Danielle Lowe.
Barr is from Brighton High School in Brighton, Mich. She was named second team all-county and also received all-conference honors.
Brininger is from Cardington-Lincoln High School in Cardington, Ohio. She was tabbed the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned honorable mention all-Ohio honors. She was also named first team all-conference three times and was twice named first team all-Central District.
Gilliland is from St. Wendelin High School in Fostoria, Ohio. She was named honorable mention all-conference three times during her career.
Hill is from Tallmadge High School in Tallmadge, Ohio. She was named second team all-conference and helped her team to the state final four in 2012.
Hoffman is from Flat Rock Community High School in Carleton, Mich. She was named all-district and earned all-conference accolades.
Vander Roest is from Dexter High School in Dexter, Mich. She earned all-district honors and was an all-conference pick during her career.
Tegtmeyer is from Valley View High School in Germantown, Ohio. She is transferring to UF from Sinclair Community College where she hit .329 with two home runs and 20 runs batted in.
Walker is from Clear Fork High School in Bellville, Ohio. She has been named all-conference three times and also received all-conference honors in basketball and soccer.
