Sophomore Chelsea McManaway was named second team all-Midwest Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on May 5.
McManaway was voted the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Pitcher of the Year for her performance during the 2016 campaign. The first team all-conference selection posted a 16-8 record on the mound with a 0.83 earned run average. She also set new school records for strikeouts in a season (219) and saves in a season (5). Both totals led the conference.
During the 2016 season, McManaway threw a no-hitter against Northwood (3/25) and pitched a perfect game with 18 strikeouts against Saginaw Valley State (4/17). She was named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week on March 28 and earned NFCA National Pitcher of the Week honors on March 30.
The Wellston, Ohio native has posted 31-15 record on the mound during her short tenure at Findlay. She has recorded a UF record 396 strikeouts and has accumulated a 1.66 earned run average during her career.
