Findlay, OH - The University of Findlay track and field program will be hosting 'Oiler Throws Spring Series' clinics in the coming months. Athletes will be given access to the Findlay Oilers outdoor throwing facility and will receive one-on-one instruction from University of Findlay throws coach Blaine Maag, who recently earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Midwest Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year. The clinic is open to high school and masters level athletes. Coaches are also welcome to attend.
Coach Maag has experience coaching elite athletes at multiple levels of competition. Before his time at Findlay, Coach Maag was throws coach at Michigan State where, in a matter of just three seasons, he coached four Big Ten champions and a Big Ten Freshman of the Year. At the NCAA Division II level, Maag coached 49 national meet qualifiers, 29 NCAA Division II all-Americans, and nine national champions, the most recent of which is Tynelle Gumbs who won the weight throw at the 2017 Division II Indoor National Championship Meet.
