The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams competed today at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich. on February 9.
Junior Austin Combs took first place in the men's shot put invite and had a provisional qualifying throw of 17.57m (57-07.75).
Combs also had a provisional qualifying throw of 20.73m (68-00.25) in the men's weight throw invite, earning him second place. Freshman Dequan Lovell took eighth in the event with a provisional qualifying throw of 19.23m (63-01.25).
In the men's long jump invite, senior Trey Everett placed second by jumping for 7.07m (23-02.50).
Freshman Martin Etsey took fourth place in the men's triple jump invite with a provisional qualifying distance of 14.57m (47-09.75).
In the 400m dash invite, junior George Effah ran a 48.39, earning fifth place and a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) record. His time was also a provisional qualifier.
Everett tied his own G-MAC record in the men's high jump invite, earning sixth place with a provisional qualifying jump of 2.07m (6-09.50).
Senior Alex DeVincentis took third in the women's weight throw. Her throw of 17.82m (58-05.75) was a provisional qualifier as well as a new league record.
In the women's shot put, junior Holly Averesch earned fifth place with a provisional qualifying throw of 14.12m (46-04.00).
DeVincentis had another provisional qualifying throw in the women's shot put invite. Her 14.93m (48-11.75) throw earned her a sixth place finish.
