The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams began their season on March 31 at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open in Cedarville, Ohio. The men's team took second place with 103 points while the women took runner-up honors as well with 125 points.
On the men's side, Martin Etsey won the triple jump with a leap of 14.59 meters and finished second in the long jump at 6.67 meters.
Jonathan Allen added a third place finish in the 5,000-meter run after crossing the finish line in 15:37.79 as well.
On the women's side, Milani Glass captured gold in the 100-meter hurdles (14.36) and also won the 200-meter dash (24.78). She also teamed with Semoy Hemmings, Terissa Tran and Jenna Shipman to take third in the 4x100-meter relay after crossing the finish line in 49.65.
Hemmings won the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.81 while Shipman was victorious in the long jump at 5.43 meters. Shipman also teamed with Aubreah Manns, Mia Johnson and Hemmings to take runner-up honors in the 4x400-meter relay at 4:19.04.
Hannah Hahler won the shot put with a NCAA provisional heave of 14.52 meters while Holly Averesch finished second at 13.47 meters. Hahler also added a third place finish in the hammer throw at 48.68 meters and Averesch was second in the discus with a heave of 42.68 meters.
Alex DeVincentis won the discus with a NCAA provisional toss of 49.06 meters and finished fourth in the hammer throw at 48.10 meters.
The Oilers will return to action again on April 6-7 at the Hilltopper Relays.
