Findlay, Ohio – Two University of Findlay track and field athletes have been named as Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Athletes of the Week on Tuesday, April 3. Freshman Martin Etsey was named Male Field Athlete of the Week while junior Hannah Hahler was named Female Field Athlete of the Week.
Etsey, a native of Ghana, earned the award following a first place finish in the triple jump at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open in Cedarville, Ohio this past weekend. The freshman recorded a distance of 14.59m (47-10.5) to set a new conference record in the event. He also took second in the long jump at the event with a distance of 6.67m (21-10.75).
Hahler, a Willard, Ohio native, took first place in the shot put at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Invite with a throw of 14.52 (47-7.75) which was a new conference record and is the ninth-best throw in the country this season. She broke the old conference record by 1.24 meters. Hahler also competed in the hammer throw and discus where she took third and sixth, respectively.
