Findlay, Ohio – On Tuesday, January 14, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced their track and field Athlete of the Week selections. Findlay junior Sterling Mungro earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the first time he has earned the award this season.
Last week, Mungro and the Oilers competed in the Findlay Open to kick off the 2020 calendar year. In the weight throw, Mungro took sixth place with a throw that measured 19.87m (65-2.25), the longest throw in the conference this season. That distance also ranks him fifth nationally in the event.
Mungro also hit the top ten in the country in the shot put, ranking ninth after a throw of 16.56 (54-4) this past weekend. That throw placed the Desota, Texas native in seventh in the event.
The next event for the track and field team will be this coming Friday, January 17 when Findlay travels to Youngstown, Ohio for the YSU Collegiate Invite.
