Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay wrestling team hosted the University of Indianapolis for their first home dual of the season on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Ranked #8 in the country, the Roughnecks, who spotted the Greyhounds 12 points due to a pair of forfeits, dropped the contest by a score of 23-18.
Sophomore Devin Rogers, wrestling at 133 pounds, got Findlay's first win of the night as he defeated his opponent by a score of 7-3. It was followed by the 149 pound bout where senior Nick Goebel, the #1 wrestler in the country at his weight, dominated Kyle Barkovich of UIndy and earned a tech fall victory at 16-0 in just 3:42 of action.
At 157 pounds, senior Joey White reached a milestone in his career with a 3-1 decision over Heath Lange. White, ranked #10 in the nation at his weight, earned his 100th career victory and is just three wins away from cracking the top-ten list for all-time wins at Findlay.
Sophomore Alonzo Turner, 165 pounds, and senior Bradley Metz, 174 pounds, each took care of business to give the Roughnecks the lead. Turner, ranked #10, won his bout 10-2 while Metz, ranked #7, won 7-2.
UIndy won the final three matches to earn the victory.
Findlay is back on the mat this Saturday, Jan. 21 when they travel to Mercyhurst to take on number #6 team in the country.
