South Euclid, Ohio – The University of Findlay wrestling team traveled to South Euclid, Ohio to take on the fifth-ranked Notre Dame College Falcons on Friday, Feb. 7 in a dual competition. The Roughnecks fell by a score of 40-11.
Findlay junior Zachary Collins opened up the competition with a victory at 125 pounds, defeating his opponent with an 8-2 decision. Senior Devin Rogers picked up the next win at 149 pounds, earning a 17-2 decision to win by tech fall. Findlay trailed just 12-8 in the dual after Rogers' victory.
After dropping the next two bouts, junior Nathan Vandermeer won at 174 pounds by a score of 4-2. But the Roughnecks would drop the final three matches to take the loss in the dual.
Findlay's next competition will be on Saturday. Feb. 15 when they host Mercyhurst. That dual will begin at 10:00 am.
