Painesville, OH – The University of Findlay women's soccer team was on the road for a G-MAC conference game against the Lake Erie College Storm on Saturday, September 8 at 12:00 PM. The Oilers shut out the Storm with a final score of 3-0. The win improves the Oilers record to 3-0-1 and the loss gives Lake Erie a 2-2-0 record on the season.
The Oilers came out strong against the Storm and were able to score the first goal of the game in the 14th minute. Sophomore Samantha Church was the goal scorer for Findlay. A short three minutes later the Oilers were able to find the back of the net again, this time by sophomore Shannon Marsh. The first period ended in advantage of Findlay with a score of 2-0.
Both teams came into the second period with aggression, as there were fouls and yellow cards for both the Oilers and the Storm. However, Findlay was able to put that aggression to good use by scoring a third goal in the 80th minute of the game. Sophomore Karleigh Clere put ball past the Storm goalie to help secure the win for the Oilers by extending the lead to three.
In goal, junior Anna Money picked up another win with four saves on the day.
The Oilers will be back on the road again on Thursday, September 13 to face Kentucky Wesleyan for the second time this season. The conference matchup is set to begin at 6:00 PM.
