Oilers Complete All-Ohio Championship

The University of Findlay men's and women's indoor track and field teams completed the 2011 All-Ohio Championship on Saturday, January 22 at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.

On the men's side, Derrick Vicars placed second in the shot put with a school record-breaking and NCAA Division II provisional qualifying heave of 58'06.75.

Lyndon Johnson added a pair of third place finishes, taking the bronze in the 60-meter dash (6.87) and the 200-meter dash (21.60). Both times were provisional marks.

Cory Vales broke a school record and recorded a provisional mark of 7'00.25 in the high jump, which was good for third place at the event.

John Guagenti added a third place finish in the 400-meter after crossing the finish line in 48.35, which was a provisional mark in the event.

On the women's side, Raven Clay placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a provisional qualifying time of 8.56 while Lindsey Schmitmeyer finished eighth in the 800-meter at 2:17.56.

Christine Zimmermann was 12th in the 800 as well, finishing with a time of 2:19.76.

The Oilers will be back in action again on January 28-29 when they host the Findlay Classic inside the Malcolm Athletic Center.
