The University of Findlay men and women's track and field team completed the final day of the Miami Invitational on Saturday, April 6 in Oxford, Ohio.
For the men, the 4x400-meter relay team of Darren Johnson, John Guagenti, Tim Sanders and Dillon Webster took first with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:13.71 while the 4x100-meter relay team of Sanders, Nathan Ritzler, Michael Travis, and Joe Sherrieb took second with a time of 43.61.
Individually, Guagenti also placed second in the 400-meter dash with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 47.90 and was also second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.27.
Darren Johnson placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.39.
Sanders placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 52.87 while Kyle Smithey took fifth in the same event with a time of 55.36.
Webster also had a top three finish individually with a third place finish in the 800-meter run (1:52.52).
Derrick Vicars had a huge day for the Oilers in field events, winning the discus with a school record setting and NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 182'06. He also won the shot put with an NCAA automatic qualifying heave of 62'05.75.
Taylor Miller and Marcus Vicars each competed in the shot put and discus. Miller and Vicars placed second (160'09), and sixth (154'05), respectively, in the discus and each recorded NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the shot put. Miller's heave of 57'10.25 was good enough for third while Vicars' mark of 53'11.25 placed him fourth.
Darren Bass also placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 50'05.50.
Johnson placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 46'00.75 followed by Colin Thomas in third (45'09.25) and Glen Forsythe in fourth (45'03.50).
Johnson also took sixth in the long jump with a distance of 22'05.75.
Corey Shank was the only Findlay placer in the pole vault with a second place, NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 16'00.75.
Individually, Sanmiquel also placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.45 as well as fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.70.
Stump took sixth in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.05.
In women's field events, Jessica Rowland took fourth in the discus with an NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 144'05 and eighth in the shot put with a heave of 42'03.25.
Pam Showman took seventh in the javlin with a throw of 98'01.
As a team, the men placed second with 162 total points, behind Miami, who scored 186.50. The women took fifth with 55.50 points, while Miami placed first with 245.50.
The men and women will be back in action on April 12 for the All-Ohio Championship in Athens, Ohio.
