Senior Jessica Rowland was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Field Athlete of the Week on May 1 for her performances last weekend.
Rowland had an outstanding weekend for the Oilers at the Kip Janvrin Open and Drake Relays. She began the weekend by taking second in the hammer throw with a NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 54.72 meters at the Kip Janvrin Open. She also placed fourth in the discus with a NCAA provisional heave of 45.89 meters. Rowland then closed the weekend out by taking third in the hammer throw at the Drake Relays with a NCAA automatic qualifying and school record breaking toss of 62.23 meters.
Rowland was also honored for her achievements by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), earning honorable mention field athlete of the week accolades.
