Oilers Fall to Rockhurst in St. Louis Finale

The University of Findlay volleyball team dropped their final game of the Rockhurst Volleyball Classic in St. Louis, Missouri vs. the Rockhurst by a 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-12) final on Saturday, September 6 and drop their record to 2-2 on the young season.

Once again, sophomore Hannah Tong led the Oilers in kills as she picked up 12 in that category. Sophomore Andrea Roach and freshman Nickyla Gerverick each added eight kills and two blocks.

Junior Becca Shoemaker led the defense as she picked up 11 digs in the contest while senior Amanda Calhoun gathered 27 assists.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, Andrea Roach was honored with a spot on the All-Tournament team for her outstanding play during the weekend.

The Oilers will next be on the court on Friday, September 12 in Croy Gymnasium for their 2014 home and GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) opener vs. the Eagles of Ashland. The match is slated to begin at 7:30 pm.
