The University of Findlay volleyball team captured a 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25- ) over Ashland University on Sep. 12 in Croy Gymnasium. The win gives the Oilers a 4-2 record on the year with a 1-0 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.
The Oilers won the last three sets convincingly to score a victory in their home opener and were led by sophomore Hannah Tong, who clobbered 11 kills.
Junior Andrea Roach also reached double figures in kills with ten while red-shirt freshman Nickyla Garverick dominated the defensive end with nine total blocks. Garverick also posted seven kills and hit a team-high .385 in the win.
Senior Amanda Calhoun continued her stellar play with 34 assists, 13 digs, five blocks and three kills.
The Oilers will return tomorrow at 4 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium to host Lake Erie College.
