The University of Findlay volleyball team handled the Storm of Lake Erie College on Saturday, September 13 with a straight set victory over the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe, 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-15) improving the Oilers record to 5-2 (2-0) on the young season.
Taking on a do-it-all roll was senior Amanda Calhoun who picked up 24 assists, six digs, three blocks, and two kills in the three set victory.
The Oilers offensive fire power came from sophomore Hannah Tong and freshman Nickyla Garverick who each smashed eight kills. Garverick also played well at the net as she had five blocks. Sophomore Andrea Roach added six kills and three blocks.
Junior Becca Shoemaker led the defense as she scrambled for 11 digs.
The Oilers will be back on the court next Friday, September 19 as they host Lake Superior State University in a contest slated to begin at 7:30pm.
