The University of Findlay volleyball team fell short in their home contest on Saturday, October 11 vs. the #12 Grand Valley State Lakers as they fell by a 3-2 (25-10, 22-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-12) final. The loss is the second straight for Findlay and dropped their record to 11-5 overall and 8-3 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.
Leading the offense for the Oilers was sophomore Andrea Roach who smashed 18 kills at a .424 percentage. Also hitting well was redshirt-freshman Nickyla Garverick who smacked 14 kills in a losing effort. Sophomore Hannah Tong had nine kills.
Junior Becca Shoemaker picked up 18 digs for Findlay and also had two aces while serving.
Senior Amanda Calhoun helped lead the offense as she assisted on 42 scoring plays.
The Oilers are back in action next Friday as they will play in the GLIAC/GLVC crossover with their opponent and game time to be determined.
