The University of Findlay volleyball team came away victorious on Friday, Oct. 9 after they defeated 25th-ranked Saginaw Valley State by a score of 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-20, 25-22) to improve to 13-3 on the season and 7-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
Freshman Amanda Winner led the way for the Oilers with 16 kills. Senior Julie Lyons added 12 kills and a team-high two blocks. Junior Hannah Tong chipped in with 11 kills and sophomore Nickyla Garverick added nine kills.
Senior Andrea Roach also closed in on the double digit kill mark with eight. Senior Becca Shoemaker anchored the defense with 16 digs. Freshman Kara Scherger helped out with 12 digs and sophomore Madelyn McCabe added 10 digs.
Freshman Hailee Olson paced the offense with 53 assists.
The Oilers are back in action Saturday, Oct. 9 as they host Wayne State University at Croy Gymnasium. The match is scheduled to begin at 4pm.
